Meet Cleve Tidwell
Born and raised in Georgia, Cleve Tidwell grew up in a humble Christian home located in the textile communities. Cleve began working early, as most young boys did, with a paper route. Throughout his youth, exposure to animals and land on his Uncle’s farm fostered a love of agriculture.
Cleve began working in the cotton mills the year he turned fifteen. “This was the most physically demanding job I ever had,” Cleve remembers. “My parents worked long, hard hours in the textile industry all their lives.”
Cleve speaks of dedicated people living in a lower middle-class community in small town America. “Where I lived was considered the wrong side of the tracks. We were happy. My parents always said, “Never give up and always be honest. "They were great examples of leadership. My parents were loving and dedicated people; hard workers, family focused, with Christian faith and strong values that guided our family.”
After completing college and the U.S. Marine Corp, Cleve began climbing the business ladder in Atlanta, Georgia. Work was required; there were no silver spoons in his family. Jobs were not readily available for men and women coming home from the military during the Viet Nam Era. Cleve moved rapidly from sales to management and continued to earn his way to senior management positions in a Fortune100 Company over the next twenty-five years. When the company sold in 1996, Cleve started his own small business firm provide services to business owners and entrepreneurs which later spread to an international company. His specialty in risk-management and leadership training became highly sought after in companies across several continents.
Cleve was selected by Nancy Reagan’s staff to run the “Just Say No” Program in the southern states. He served in this role while continuing to build his business in his earlier years. He worked as a volunteer with thousands of students and schools in an effort to fight the endless battle of drug abuse.
Political exposure in the early years of the Reagan campaign as a volunteer led to his involvement with the Fred Thompson campaign for U.S. Senate, and later the Fred Thompson campaign for President in 2008 both as volunteers.
In the past decade, Cleve while working and living most of his career in the United States has experienced the good fortune of working and living in other countries. International cultures and relationships proved important as work and travels have taken him from Europe, the Middle East, Central and South America, Asia and Japan. Cleve has spoken in business forums with senior management and companies from over 20 countries. His time in Central and South America included developing business and trade relationships while maintaining excellent business connections with key leaders worldwide. In Japan, he was exposed to other Asian countries and has developed close friendships and business connections throughout Southeastern Asia, India, Australia, Japan and China. Cleve brings international business experience and knowledge, along with a solid foundation of business management and leadership with him in pursuit of the U.S. Senate position.
Cleve has the ability to deal with complex issues facing our country. The people of the United States do not have time to develop a job training program for new Senators. People who already have experience, knowledge, and a solid understanding of this global economy are a requirement in this position. Solving issues and building a continuum of successful business policies is of utmost importance to Colorado and ALL Americans in these changing times.
Americans must have JOBS right now. Government must be removed from the private business and lives of the American People so that Americans can build better relationships and create more business opportunities.
Due to his experience in agriculture, including cattle, crops and a fish operation, Cleve understands the challenges and concerns of farmers. He’s aware of the changing market dynamics and how they currently affect international trade. He takes agricultural issues seriously, and brings verifiable solutions to this industry.
A lifetime volunteer dedicated to helping people in need, Cleve served as director of a Central American Village for over 80 people who lost their home in Hurricane Mitch in 1998. His efforts extended to Asia, helping children and families, and extend to involvement in many charities and organizations where he continues to volunteer. He has served on various charitable boards. Cleve is an active member of the Red Cross, certified to assist in disaster both in and out of the United States.
One of Cleve’s fondest memories is that of being a “Big Brother” to a young boy, during Cleve's earlier adult years. He believes in helping others and involves himself in serving his community wherever he lives.
In 2005, Cleve Tidwell returned to Colorado to work as the president of his companies United States Headquarters. As he continued to help businesses restructure management systems for better communication, greater profit, and improved human resources, he began to see a greater need. Cleve recognized that as the head of his own company with offices in Denver, Tokyo and Osaka, he could help his company. The greater need for independent leadership and understanding of the free enterprise system led him to consider and begin the pursuit of this position as U.S. Senator from Colorado.
Cleve actively fights for bills in Colorado State Legislature from outside the chamber. He testified on the bills requiring transparency for government and school systems, with a strong believe in complete transparency in government. His efforts in the private sector assure him that the capabilities of the people are available and ready to work for better business, better production, and more definition of independence and freedom for the people of this great state and nation. He understands that when leaders become transparent and vulnerable to the same rules and regulations they set for their people, government becomes more accountable. Millions of dollars can be saved when leaders are required to be accountable to the people, and accountable to the factors already instilled within the Constitution.
Cleve understands the huge amounts of natural resources available in the State of Colorado and the United States of America. He seeks the clean development of natural resources, promotes the creation of private industry and businesses providing jobs in order to improve the overall prosperity of the people in this great state. Cleve supports renewable energy and encourages the continued development of solid ecologically sound resources. He is determined to reduce the 'oil money' sent to other countries and, instead, use American ingenuity to develop consistent energy supplies at home.
“America must become a leader in the common sense market of energy development, creating thousands, if not millions, of jobs through the continued research and development of natural resources and renewable energy. Colorado alone lost 35,000 jobs of the 72,000 jobs in the Oil Industry this past year. This is unacceptable. We must fight to preserve the economic resources necessary to maintain and build new jobs for citizens.” Cleve Tidwell explains that, “this is another example of bad decisions made by the current state and national government. This trend of moving jobs outside the state, and outside the country, must stop.”
While in Japan, Cleve took the opportunity to get special training in Quality Management from the Kaizen School. He has received numerous awards and advanced educational designations throughout his career. The quality of product and outcome of productivity worldwide created in him a great passion for developing strong business leaderships and associations that allow business to thrive, in any economy. His efforts will be continued on a greater scale with a position in the U.S. Senate. Cleve Tidwell will be fighting on the frontlines of government for the continued growth and development of new business to produce plenty of quality jobs.
A successful business executive and leader for three decades, Cleve knows he can lead the State of Colorado and America through these difficult times. He will fight to control spending and to establish a fiscally responsible government with full transparency and accountability to the people of America. His focus on getting people back to work will drive new business development and cut taxes. Cleve Tidwell will NEVER vote for a tax increase.
He believes in reducing our taxes, and eliminating taxes that do not make sense. He believes government must stay out of business so businesses can grow and prosper. Government’s job is to protect America and not to run or interfere with our lives.
Cleve fights for liberty and will follow the laws of the Constitution to preserve liberty and freedom first. His experience in fighting for better health care and lower rates will prove helpful to everyone in America.
Service to the United States, loyalty to his companies and client, holding himself accountable with honor and hard work, these are the values that have brought Cleve Tidwell to announce his candidacy for U.S. Senator of Colorado. These values define Cleve Tidwell.
When asked ...Why are you running for office? Cleve replied, It is time for me to leave the private sector and stand strong for my country as I always have in business. I made that decision when I realized our Government thinks they can run our lives better than we can. Government cannot run our lives better. Government cannot run our businesses better. The Constitution says this is a nation of 'We the People...' not 'We the Government...' therefore we can straighten out the mess that’s been created if we stick to solid, proven principles. Government’s job is to protect us and assure our rights, not to interfere and run our businesses or lives."
